| Located about 30 miles east of Washington, D.C., the Baltimore/ Washington International Airport (BWI) serves both national and international flights, including commuter, charter, and cargo airlines. Spread out for more than 3,500 acres, the airport operates more than 50 airlines, and servers more than 50,000 passengers per day. Taxi fare from the airport to downtown Washington runs about $55. Keep in mind that, on weekdays, more than 50 trains travel between the airport and Washington's Union Station, operated by Amtrak and the Maryland Rail Commuter Service. The 40-minute ride should cost around $5-$10 on MARC and about $15 on Amtrak (see below for info). Also, SuperShuttle buses travel between BWI and downtown Washington in a little over an hour's time, costing about $30 one way.
