| The New York City Ballet is an organization unique in its field. The Company trains its own artists and creates its own works and was the world's first ballet institution to have two permanent homes - the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. With nearly 100 dancers, the company is one of the largest dance organizations in America, with a resume of more than 150 works. ("The Nutcracker" is still a holiday classic and remains one of the hottest tickets in town come December.) The company's most renowned home, the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, is a traditional theater that seats 2,755. The venue occupies the south side of Lincoln Plaza and shares the building with the Metropolitan Opera House, home to New York's American Ballet Theatre Company. The New York State Theater is also home to New York City Opera. |
