| Founded in 1943, the New York City Opera is devoted to the development of American opera singers and composers, bringing financially accessible performances to a wide and diverse audience. One-third of the company's repertoire is comprised of the work of American composers. The company is housed in the New York State Theatre in Lincoln Center Plaza in the Upper West Side of Manhattan; an artistic and revered neighborhood in itself. *The season runs from September to November, and March to April. |
