| Running from the French Quarter to Audubon Park, Magazine Street follows the crescent of the river. A street of commercial and retail commerce, a group of business owners formed a revitalized Magazine Street organization which promotes the shops, restaurants, and other businesses. You will find over 80 antique and furniture shops, each with their own niché. Many visitors to the city go to the Magazine Street corridor more than once a year, just to find that right antique piece. Art galleries abound. There are many gift and floral shops. The area is easily accessible either by car or bus. The bus may be taken from Canal Street and Magazine for a small fee. Parking for autos is limited near and around the shops, however, one can park in the residential neighborhoods starting at the Garden District area and walk back to Magazine. At the farthest point of Magazine Street is the world famous Audubon Zoo - an outing on its own. Note: Be safe, don't stray into areas along Magazine that don't look safe to you, use you better judgment. Private Security is available along many parts of Magazine Street. |
