The Showboat casino will be the home of one of the largest House of Blues venues yet to be built. Amazingly, the casino will open a House of Blues restaurant, club, live music venue, poker room and Foundation Room all by July Fourth weekend of this year. It's the dawn of a new day at Showboat, one where young people will want to go there for more than the great buffet. Located at Delaware Avenue and the Boardwalk, the heavily themed Showboat Casino Hotel brings alive the colors and spirit of New Orleans. A 15-foot tall, multi-colored swan greets visitors at the front entrance. The swan is made of fiberglass and steel and consists of hundreds of colored lights that flicker at night. The swan (not the Showboat swan) is traditionally the first float in the New Orleans' Mardi Gras Parade. The Showboat hotel offers 755 guestrooms including 69 oceanfront suites in the main 25-story tower, and a 17-story Orleans Tower. Showboat's casino offers 97,000 square feet of gaming space, with nearly 100 table games and more than 3,700 slot machines. Slot players will enjoy the Carousel room, a high-end slot parlor featuring more than 15,000 square feet of slot machines. A horse racing simulcasting center is also available. The resort's 346-seat Mardi Gras Showroom accommodates a variety of entertainment and special events. The New Orleans Square Bandstand hosts free jazz band entertainment, and piano players entertain guests with classic to contemporary songs in the hotel lobby. The Showboat has a total of nine restaurants and snack bars that prepare and serve everything from gourmet meals to fast food options. The French Quarter Buffet is one of the best in town. Other amenities include two lounges and four meeting rooms, including the Mississippi Pavilion that totals 20,250 square feet and seats more than 1,600 people.
